According to the Japan Meteorological Agency the rainy season has arrived in western Japan today on May 23rd (8 days earlier than average and 20 days earlier than last year). Here in the middle of the country, it should probably arrive tomorrow (or already has... it is raining now so... :P). Looking at the previous data, it should last a bit over a month. From what I heard, it will not rain every day but at least every second day or so. I have to say goodbye to my bicycle for a while it seems - need to find something else to occupy my weekend time with :P.
In unrelated (or related news), the kanji (Chinese characters) that we are learning this week in Japanese class have to do with weather... and there are some good ones:
雨 - rain
雲 - cloud (rain kanji on top)
雪 - snow (rain kanji on top) - also looks like a monster face :P
空 - sky - looks like a panda face!
