Sorry, I haven't had any time to update this blog... will do on the weekend. Here is a selection of meals I had over the week or so...
I finally braved to go to this udon place in the mall since you basically have to order at the counter and there is no menu... but I managed to order this and it was just awesome!!! Not sure what that thing on the right is but probably crab tempura.. it was good too.
The spaghetti restaurant had this on the display - it looks like it's a loaf of toast bread with ice cream and chocolate on top. I think there is stuff inside too.
A few pics from the last sushi (conveyer belt style) I ate:
Some mushroom (autumn style) udon soup at the school cafeteria:
A dish at the cafeteria called "parent and child". Why? Because it has chicken and egg!
A balanced lunch at the cafeteria (pretty much everyday is a different selection for balanced lunch):
A nice and spicy ramen at a Chinese restaurant next to the campus:
A natto+some vegetable and egg rice bowl. Natto is very pungent and sticky mixture of fermented soya beans - an acquired taste.
The popular dish for the autumn season is a fish called sanma (pacific saury). They are being sold at the supermarket in bulk. Here is one at one of the school cafeterias:
It was an effort to get through the spine to the meat but I carefully ate the meat (and some bones) but it was tasty.
A very tasty rice bowl (don) dish with meat and tororo (basically a sticky shredded Japanese yam mixture). The consistency is similar to natto but it tastes better :P.
But do you eat your coronets from the fat end or the skinny end?
